China: Veolia chosen by LiuGuo Chemical to treat its effluents

LiuGuo Chemical, Chinese fertilizer producer, has selected Veolia to upgrade its industrial effluent treatment facilities in Tongling, Anhui Province, on the banks of the Yangtze River.

On this site, Veolia will treat up to 200 m3 of industrial wastewater per hour using a biological process to remove ammonia. This chemical compound is used to produce agricultural fertilizers of which China is the largest consumer in the world.

Veolia will mobilize fifty employees to accompany the strong development of LiuGuo Chemical, which is a subsidiary of the Chinese chemicals market leader, Tonghua.

After the major contract with Tangshan Iron & Steel, last year, "this new contract is indicative of Veolia’s expertise in the treatment of industrial wastewater and confirms the fact that our know-how, solutions and more broadly the range of services we provide are an ideal match for the Chinese market’s needs", said Guillaume Dourdin, Senior Vice-President of Veolia China, in charge of Industrial Water Activities.

This new facility supplements a twenty-year contract to treat the site's wastewater which was signed in 2012.
